I know that is a little bit too early but I don't care. Still, Happy Holidays!

Here's a bunch of random doodles done on weekends. Some of them are quite forced because.. well, I forced myself to draw something. After I started working as a full-time employee at Rovio I didn't really draw anything on my spare time. Because of that I tried to develop a habit to draw at least something on weekends to keep me interested in drawing and keep track of my skills.

There was many up and downs while drawing these. I also learned some very valuable things about drawing and myself. But that's another story for some other day..

Commissions 2009 – 2010

Back in the old days (haha, nearly three years ago) I did lot of commissions. They were quite cheap, about $15 per drawing (one or two character(s), digital ink, full colour, no BG) if I remember right. All of them are drawings of customer’s own character. This explains why there are sometimes bright unusual colours, extraordinary details and strange looking creatures. That’s the fun and the most challenging part of the job. You never know what you get to draw.

These drawings that I am going to show here are way much smaller than the original drawings (some of the originals are over 1500x1900 or 2000x1900 pixels large). These also have huge ugly watermarks. The reason for this is that it was part of the deal, that the customer will get the full resolution of the drawing without the watermark. If I ever wanted to post the drawing on internet, I have to put a smaller picture that has a watermark on it. This way the customer will always have his/her “original” drawing.

Please remember, that these are old drawings. I am fully aware of the mistakes and what parts should be fixed (mainly body parts, like legs etc.). But sadly I can’t go to past… Or can I?

I need a new sketchbook

I guess you all understand why I want bigger sketchbook.

 Boxers again.

 I'm still trying to figure out how the feet work.

 I'm trying to get rid off the rest of ink so that I can buy a new pen.

 I somehow like the design but unfortunately the character looks too stiff. It's also hard to tell how old she is.

 Animals that have very simple shapes (red panda, rabbit, tapir..) are difficult to me. I always keep adding unnecessary details on them because I don't know when to stop. No wonder my rabbits look so freaky.

 We had stopmotion class today and while my classmates were animating the puppets, I drew a rabbit doing.. something. Dancing perhaps?
