Days come and go

Two days ago I turned 25! Feeling quite... normal, I guess? Indifferent would be the best word to describe it.

So, lets celebrate this. Let's do the same thing that we did last year: Give me ideas to draw and I'll draw them. I mean come on, I really need to do something now that I have a 2 week vacation from work. If I don't, I keep doing stupid tests like this on photoshop:

Lots of sparkles.

And now an announcement..

In case you didn't know, an art book of Angry Birds has been released (few month ago)! It has art from game department, concept art from animation department (there's few storyboard panels made by me!) and some behind the scenes information of different projects and game launches. Our book department did excellent job putting all this together!

If you want to have a sneak peek of the book you can check it from Parka Blogs. He reviews all kinds of art books (mostly from games and animation) and gives you good idea what to expect. I usually check his reviews before I buy any new additions to my collection.

You can find Angry Birds: Hatching a Universe from amazon.com or amazon.co.uk. In Finland the book will be released 15.6.

Woo!

Sininen tiikeri

Blue tigers because I'm out of practice. And because it has been forever since I uploaded anything blue.

Next ones are sketches based on images that I found from google.

Siepermann 1962 - 2013

Sorry, I'm not posting art this time.

I just now learned that one of the most amazing character designers and my personal idol has passed away. I'm of course talking about Harald Siepermann. He did unbelievable character designs for numerous Disney movies (Tarzan, Brother Bear, Treasure Planet..) and for a great cartoon series Alfred J. Kwak (1989).

Siepermann was extremely talented and his designs were beautiful combination of realism, simple shapes and details. Everything he drew had life in it and clear personality. He never overstylized his designs. He didn't draw pictures that were pretty to look at, he created actual characters.

You can check his character designs from his blog. I'll share the same link that Cartoonbrew.com did.

When me and my friend will be watching Alfred J. Kwak again, Siepermann will be in our minds. And I really, really, hope that one day his family will publish his artbook that includes all his artwork from 1995 to 2010 like he planned.
