Let the sky fall

Warm-up. 10-15 min. Reference used.

By the power of the pressure, I finally landed on tumblr! I think for starters I will upload there the same stuff that I have put on here before.

And just in case you were wondering will I abandon this blog, no worries! When I have new stuff to show, I will also upload them here.

Warm-up

Here's a collection of warm-ups done before work. The drawings are in chronological order. At first I thought about just drawing only black and white sketches but when I realized that I can do that under 3 - 5 minutes, I thought of trying to paint over the sketches. I don't paint that much at all so I thought it would be nice to practice it during warm-ups.

There are lots of ups and downs in these sketches. You can tell when I knew exactly what I was drawing and when I was struggling. I learned that one of my bad manners is that I keep drawing way too many details even though it isn't really needed. This happens especially with simple subjects where details are not necessary. I have to avoid this because that's often my downfall in my drawings. Pay more attention, observe and keep things simple.

Photo references from Google were used in all of them.

The blog will be on hiatus for the next 3 weeks so don't expect anything new for a while!

There's a new Photoshop in town

It's time to say farewell to my dear art tool and partner in crime, Photoshop CS3. You served me well for the past 5 years. We made lots of great art and animations together. It was glorious (even though you never weren't fully compatible with Cintiq but I tried my best to look past that). But now, its time to move on. For good.

Enter Photoshop CS6!

I have been waiting for this moment for a looooong time..

Brush strokes

Planning to start another blog where instead of uploading drawings, I'll write about movies. Not really reviews, more like writings of my thoughts about films and pondering what things I find interesting in them. There will be talk about the usual stuff like characters, storytelling and what makes certain scenes so freakin' good in certain movie. Sometimes I might end up talking about film industry in general.

I already have over 10 topics to write about and have started five of them. Not so sure when I'll get the first one ready, since I'll be very busy with other things at the end of the year. I also have to admit that I'm not the fastest writer because I find it sometimes hard to put my thoughts into words. I also have bad habit of re-writing stuff more than necessary. But I surely hope that I will improve and that this whole project will work out!

And here are some quick drawings (10 minutes or less) where I have been testing some rough Photoshop brushes. Love drawing with them!

Swirls

Some sticker designs that I have been making. Planning to print them and give them as souvenirs for few people in December.

Tea time

The birthdays never end.

No how many times I tell myself to actually plan these cards beforehand, I never do that. I just start working, get panicked because I have no idea what I'm doing and start adding things to save the card somehow. In the end it starts looking quite nice, but I can't stop wondering how it would have looked like if I had planned everything first.
